Most notably, we will be removing Items completely with the next release of Gowalla. While they have been a trademark feature of Gowalla since the beginning — one that our entire team poured much effort and passion into — fewer than half a percent of our active community makes use of them. It now causes more distraction than joy for the vast majority of our community.

Gowalla: Going Forward 


Low usage? Duh, it used to be much easier to use, but then they buried the functionality.

Items were my favorite part of Gowalla. I found a moon rock at the Kennedy Space Center when I went down for a shuttle launch, then dropped it at my local planetarium. I picked up some Hitchhiking Ghosts at WDW and dropped them at bus stops and other places around my hometown, etc.

Sadly, I think my fun ride with Gowalla is over, and its time to move on.
